6 Steps in Bingley with Anthony Woods

Many of you know me as a counsellor and couple counsellor, but I guess many of you don’t know I provide an anger management group program. This program, the 6 Steps to Beat Your Anger (delivered over the course of 6 weeks) remains a permanent rolling fixture across my practice calendar.

Back in 2015 when my colleague Nathan was delivering this program he had created from his offices in Bradford, he had spoken to me of the feedback attendees were giving him and the changes reported in self-management and self-awareness.  Having seen that I, too, was as focused on achieving the right outcomes for his clients, Nathan asked me to deliver the program elsewhere in West Yorkshire, namely Leeds and Bingley.  This was not long after we had agreed to design and instigate a Pilot Study meant to investigate the outcome of our counselling methods in reducing the symptoms of anger in psycho-educational management program settings.

Though we have yet to publish the research findings, from an initial analysis and talking through with our clients on a session-by-session basis what they were finding most helpful, we were able to tailor the program to the needs of our clients.  Specifically, we shortened the educational content of the earlier sessions and provided more opportunities for them to help understand and manage their anger by drawing in additional resources and materials.

The encouraging outcomes of this approach meant that we soon created another program featuring additional tools and strategies that were suitable for those clients who wanted a 12-week one-to-one program.
